Abstract
This is a case study about a client who went overseas alone to study at an early age and came back home for a vacation. The client was forced to go overseas by his parents 2 years ago, and he appealed loneliness and unease caused by unwanted separation from his family, language stress, culture shock, confusion of ego, and emotional problems. Therefore, the client requested sand play therapy to release these negative feelings. A total of 15 sessions including two sessions of pre- and post-projection examination and one session of counseling with his parents four weeks later were administered. During the sessions, he showed negative feelings by expressions of the sand box, gradually recovering self-respect. Backed by trust relationship with the therapist, he abandoned his pretentious behaviors and way of speaking and showed his real appearance and true feelings. His internal conflict and unconsciousness were unveiled, curing himself. Eventually, the client found his own self and felt his family¡¯s love, and he came to have confidence in his future.
